Botanical Excursion Tour to Lonavala

10/02/2024: The Botanical educational visit to Lonavala, organized by Department of Botany, was designed to provide students with an immersive learning experience in the diverse flora of the region. Lonavala, with its rich biodiversity and unique plant species, served as an excellent destination for this specialized excursion. The primary goal of the visit was to deepen students' understanding of plant life, ecosystems, and environmental conservation. Lonavala's varied landscapes, from lush green valleys to rocky terrains, offered an ideal setting for studying a wide range of plant species, including endemic and medicinal plants. The visit commenced with a trek, providing students with an opportunity to observe and identify various plant species in their natural habitat. Faculty members were accompanied the group, sharing insights into the unique adaptations of plants to different ecological niches. Visit to A-One Biotech (Plant Tissue Culture & Horticulture Plant), Talegaon, Pune.

  27/09/2023: A-One Biotech (Plant Tissue Culture & Horticulture Plant) is a distributer of micropropagated plants, based in MIDC, Talegaon, Pune. The organization was established in 2005 by Mr. Dilip Jadhav , a post graduate in Botany. He has worked hard to make successful tie-ups with several renowned companies such as Reliance Group, Government Projects such as beautification of Nasik Highway and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai and many more. Several ornamental plants are propagated through tissue culture and sold on a large scale. Department of Botany, AKI’s Poona College, arranged a visit to this Horticulture Plant, with S.Y. B.Sc. Botany students on 27 th September, 2023 . Mr. Shelke, the manager received us in his usual cordial way. Cultivation of medicinal plants: Moringa

07/10/2023: T he initiative of Department of Botany, AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, “Project Moringa” was further pursued by transplanting saplings in soil. Students and staff visited the land at Bopgaon with the seedlings that had grown successfully in seedling trays. Students, under the supervision of coordinators Dr. Aafreen A. Ahmed and Dr. Rafik Shaikh prepared beds and laid pipelines for drip irrigation. This was a tedious process, but students carried out work efficiently! After a short break, students transplanted sap lings in beds at adequate distance so that the plants establish well in soil in the coming days. With assistance of the locals, students could complete their work in time and make arrangements for drip irrigation. In all,  16 students  volunteered to work on field for cultivation of  Moringa  saplings on land.
