Cultivation of medicinal plants: Moringa

07/10/2023: The initiative of Department of Botany, AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, “Project Moringa” was further pursued by transplanting saplings in soil.

Students and staff visited the land at Bopgaon with the seedlings that had grown successfully in seedling trays. Students, under the supervision of coordinators Dr. Aafreen A. Ahmed and Dr. Rafik Shaikh prepared beds and laid pipelines for drip irrigation. This was a tedious process, but students carried out work efficiently!

After a short break, students transplanted saplings in beds at adequate distance so that the plants establish well in soil in the coming days. With assistance of the locals, students could complete their work in time and make arrangements for drip irrigation.

In all, 16 students volunteered to work on field for cultivation of Moringa saplings on land.
