Minutes of the Meeting                        Date: 14/08/2018
                                                                                                                            Time: 12.30 pm
A meeting of the Faculty, Department of Botany, was held in its staff room to discuss the following points:
1.   Compilation of bimonthly Newsletter of Department by Dr. Sayyed Iliyas.
2.   Discussion on adoption of a neighborhood slum area and carry on awareness activities such as: show videos and spread the importance of balanced diet, nutritional deficiencies, etc, among residents especially children and females. Faculty in-charge: Dr. Rafik Shaikh
3.   Carry out Environmental Audit with the help of T.Y. B.Sc (Botany) students under the guidance of faculty in-charge: Dr. Rafik Shaikh and Dr. Aafreen Abrar Ahmed.
4.   Decide guest and arrange programme for distribution of certificates to students enrolled in Certificate Course on Fruit Processing and Preservation conducted in 2017-18. Faculty in-charge: Dr. Shafikh Shaikh and Miss Nabila Shaikh.
5.   Respective subject teachers to conduct class tests for F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y. Botany students to identify slow and advanced learners. Preparation of time- table and notice for the same is to be done by Miss Nabila Shaikh.
6.   The entire staff along with students to participate in rally for ‘Saaf-Suthri Bakri Eid’ organized by college on August 20th, 2018.
7.   A revision of departmental activities to be conducted during academic year 2018-19 was done, work distributed and finalized.
8.   Publication of research papers in UGC listed Journals.

  Activity Incharge :  Dr. Shafikh Shaikh Staff Accompanied : Miss Nabila Shaikh                                      No of Beneficiaries : 16 Date : 16/06/2021                     Time : 11.00am              Day : Wednesday     Department of Botany organized an activity to set up college medicinal garden. This activity was conducted  with the help of T.Y.B.Sc Botany students in presence of Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh. Students were provided with garden equipment to carry out the plantation process. Two students adopted single plant for plantation and further care. The objective was to make students identify medicinal plants correctly. Total 16 students took part in the activity and they were guided by Dr. Shafikh Shaikh and Miss Nabila Shaikh. Some ornamental plants were also planted at the entrance gate. Students have also removed unwanted grass from horticulture garden.

Excursion Tour Mahabaleshwar for T.Y.B.SC. Botany students on Saturday 29/12/2018. No of Beneficiaries: 09         In charge: Dr Rafik U. Shaikh. Teacher Accompanied: Mrs. Shaikh Meherunisa M. Objective of the study tour: To make the students understand the vegetation of Mahabaleshwar.                The study tour organized for the students to Mahabaleshwar included special visit to Gureghar forest conservatory for research & development.   The students were able to observe a conserved area spread on 100 acres of land.   Mr. More who is a forester explained about the working of the conservatory with special reference to 25 different species of Eucalyptus    which were taken care of & different gymnospermic plants like Pinus, Podocarpus, Cuperesus and Aurucaria etc. Noteworthy was two plants of Agathis robusta which were near the entrance gate and more than 300 years old. Health, Hygiene and Nutrition Drive by T.Y. B.Sc. Botany Students At Tayyabia Orphanage, Pune

DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY Department of Botany, AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Camp, Pune organized an awareness program on ‘Health, Hygiene and Nutrition’ at Tayyabia Orphanage, Camp, Pune on 7 th January, 2018 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The Program was started by recitation of few verses from the Holy Quran by Mr. Zaid Shaikh. The inauguration was done by Vice Principal Prof. Iqbal Shaikh of our college. Mr. Wahid Biyabani, Head Master of School of Tayyabia Orphanage and Dr. Mujeeb Shaikh were also a part of it. On this occasion Prof. Iqbal Shaikh addressed to the children about importance of personal and general hygiene. He also focused on some health and nutrition related issues and their way of solutions.
